Hopes to create multiple monetisation opportunities for local creators, brands and publishers in the country; will expand local team with a view to bring users the most ‘selalu happening’ content on smartphone lock screen

Jakarta, 23, February 2022: Glance, one of Southeast Asia’s largest lock screen content platforms, today announced that it will be expanding its local team apart from forging multiple collaborations with key Indonesian brands, publishers, and creators as part of its ‘Indonesia First’ strategy. This ongoing expansion is a reinforcement of Glance’s commitment to the Indonesian market and its intention of bringing the most premium, locally relevant content to Indonesian users.

As part of this effort, Glance has appointed Dalip Shahri as Director, Market Development, Indonesia. Based out of Jakarta, Shahri will help Glance to form strategic partnerships, local collaborations, influencer alliances, and more.  The company also said it plans to double its existing employee base in the country in 2022, with a focus on content creation. Glance recently raised $200 million in funding from telecom behemoth Jio Platforms (part of Reliance Industries) and aims to utilise this proposed investment to expand its international footprint.

After having launched its Indonesia operations in 2020, Glance tripled the size of its team here through 2021. Singapore headquartered Glance enables users to discover some of the best, most trending, ‘Selalu happening’ content on topics that interests them, across categories on the lock screen of smartphones. In addition to bringing users the best of internet content in a unique way, it also enables brands and publishers to connect with millions of users on the most used surface of the phone – the lock screen.

In accordance with its Indonesia First strategy, Glance, on Wednesday, hosted the first ‘Glance Indonesia Unlocked’ event to showcase the power of the lock screen as a platform for content to top Indonesian brands, publishers, creators, and government officials. It also unveiled powerful features like Live streaming for creators, especially gamers, in Indonesia. Glance LIVE has been seeing remarkable success in India with creators amassing thousands of concurrent viewers for their real time, interactive shows on lock screen.

Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno, Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy of the Republic of Indonesia, who was the guest of honour at the event said, “I really appreciate Glance, a unicorn based in India, for presenting an alternative content platform for users in Indonesia. Over the last few quarters, Glance has already partnered with top publishers including Mongabay, The Conversation, Vice Indonesia, Liputan6, AsianParent.com and Rasamasa, IDN Media, DW TV, Musica Studios. Recently, it also partnered with Collab Asia, a top creator management firm. Collab Asia is expected to help Glance to onboard some of Indonesia’s most loved creators, to make Indonesia specific content.
