Life At Glance: with Isidorus Rio

1. When did you join the Glance family, and can you tell us about your role and journey with the company? 

I joined Glance in May 2023 through a referral. Moving from a tech company in China to Glance was a significant cultural shift for me. However, I quickly found that Glance's mature work environment, filled with focused professionals, was a perfect fit for my work style. Initially, I was nervous as I transitioned from an Ops Team role to Partnerships. However, my communication skills from being a journalist helped me excel. Weekly meetings with partners and creators sharpened my skills, and my colleagues provided valuable insights and metrics, fostering a great collaborative culture. It's been a journey of growth and learning. 

 2. What were your first impressions of Glance, and how have you seen yourself grow since joining? 

 My first impression of Glance is that it is unique. My role here has helped me grow significantly in learning and data analysis, especially with lock screen-based metrics.  The working culture at Glance and Roposo in India is very respectful and considerate of Indonesian culture. 

3. How does Glance empower you in your current role, and how have you grown professionally? 

Glance has taught me a lot about the lock screen business. I have learned how to market and raise awareness for brand deals and grew significantly from these experiences. The support I’ve received has been instrumental in my development, and I feel fortunate to be part of such an encouraging environment. One situation that stands out is when I had a personal emergency. The compassion and support I received from Glance were unparalleled, and I felt cared for. This experience solidified my commitment to Glance, knowing I am part of a company that genuinely cares about its employees. 

4. What is your message to people who want or are starting a career in the same role as you are now? 

 As the eldest grandchild in my family, I advise younger relatives and others aspiring to work in tech to treat life with missions and goals. Working helps develop maturity through collaboration. Young professionals in Partnerships should hone their communication and social interaction skills, which are essential and invaluable. 

5. How does Glance's culture resonate with your personal values, and can you describe a time when you felt recognized for your contributions? 

 The inclusive culture at Glance's Indonesia office resonates deeply with my personal values. Glance's principles of being open and responsible align with my belief. Social interactions come naturally here, making it easy for me to settle in and gel with the team. Whether it is spending time together or playing together after work, the camaraderie here is something special. I was thrilled to receive the Rising Star Award 2023 for developing the community at Glance. This recognition made me feel valued. It was a wonderful feeling to be acknowledged for my efforts and to know that my contributions made a difference. 

6. In what ways has Glance supported your work-life balance? 

 Living far away from the office makes the daily commute difficult, so my team understands my situation and allows me to work from home occasionally. This flexibility has been invaluable for maintaining a healthy work-life balance. It allows me to spend more time with my family and recharge, which makes me more productive at work. 

7. What projects have you been involved in at Glance, and what impact did they have on the company and its customers? 

Over the past one and a half years, I've been deeply involved in development and launch projects. These have had a significant impact on the company and its customers, and I am proud of the contributions I've made. Knowing that my work helps shape the company's future is incredibly fulfilling. 

8. What are your aspirations for the future, and how do you see your career evolving at Glance? 

 Looking ahead, I see immense potential within Glance. My aspirations for the future are closely tied to the growth and evolution of the company. I am excited about the opportunities that lie ahead and am committed to contributing to Glance's dynamic environment. The journey has been incredible so far, and I am eager to see where it leads next.
